Liu Kun introduced that in 1950, the national fiscal revenue was only 6.2 billion yuan, which increased to 113.2 billion yuan in 1978. Since the reform and opening up, with the rapid economic development, fiscal revenue has increased significantly. In 1999, national fiscal revenue exceeded 1 trillion yuan for the first time. After entering the new century, fiscal revenue achieved continuous leaps, reaching 11,725.4 billion yuan in 2012. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, fiscal revenue has continued to grow rapidly, reaching 18,335.2 billion yuan in 2018. Over the past 70 years, the national fiscal revenue has grown at an average annual rate of 12.5%, an increase of nearly 3,000 times.

“In other words, one day’s fiscal revenue now is equivalent to eight times the size of 1950.” Liu Kun said that the fiscal “cake” continues to grow, providing a solid financial guarantee for promoting economic and social development in various periods, especially for the overall promotion of economic construction, political construction, cultural construction, and social construction since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
